Concerns on the A20

19th September 2023

Farningham’s Kent Police Beat Officer, PC Gareth Maloney, attended the recent Parish Council meeting with road safety on the A20 at the top of his and the councillors’ agenda.

Kent County Councillor Roger Gough took note of all our concerns and advised that his Highways Department team continued to look at possible solutions to the high accident and death toll on this road. He said average speed cameras were an option.

Farningham Parish Council has long felt a roundabout might cut speed and eliminate the illegal right-hand turns which are frequently made from the A225 Eynsford Road and the slip road at White Post Hill. This is likely to be the focal point of Farningham’s Highways Improvement Plan which will be discussed at the council’s next meeting of 4th October.

For his part, PC Maloney said he would ask the Traffic Department to attend the area more frequently and would also request more mobile speed camera use.

Farningham Parish Council welcomes input from residents and these should be made through our Clerk, Helen Penney.
