Friends of Farningham

The first meeting of our virus-interrupted season was a huge success as 15 of us gathered outside the village hall. A wonderful turnout and we split into groups with one group walking the A20 footpath from King's Roundabout to Eynsford Road and trimming back all overhanging tree branches. Another cleared weeds and swept the base of the flint wall and church wall in the High Street; overhanging trees were cut back in the Beesfield Lane/Tilmans Mead area; the grass was cut in front of the village hall and the car park cleared of leaves whilst attention was also paid to getting Irving's Corner ship shape after recent grass and tree work. Jobs very well done and the centre of the village looked much the better for it.

Our next get-together is on Wednesday, 15th July, 10am at the village hall with our next Saturday meeting scheduled for 1st August. For those interested in coming along, we usually work for an hour and among the tasks we will look at next is clearing the weeds from the bridge in the High Street. Please bring your own gloves and wear strong footwear. It would be helpful if you could provide your own small gardening tools but some will be available on the day and we have hi-visibility jackets.

Parishioners are invited to recommend areas of the village in need of some attention and further information is available from the Parish Clerk, Jane Gray or from Carol Salmon or phone 01322 860983.
