Friends of Farningham & The Great British Spring Clean
17th April 2021

Friends of Farningham, the Parish Council's village clean-up group, is making a later start to the 2021 season because of the Covid-19 lockdown rules and regulations and the plan is to gather for the first time on Saturday, 1st May, 10am at the Village Hall. Thereafter it will be the third Wednesday and first Saturday of the month until October.
As in previous years, Friends of Farningham will be looking to tidy-up and improve various areas of the village such as our historic bridge, the corner sanctuary which is Irving's Corner and the garden and grounds of the Village Hall. Last year they also did a great job in taking ivy off the flint wall at the Eynsford Road end of Beesfield Lane.
As ever, of course, if residents have a project FoF could undertake, please let us know.
This year FoF will start in Irving's Corner where the benches and concrete bases need a good brush down and the shrubs and fencing need attending to. Stiff brushes are required and tools to prune the shrubs and trim back overhanging branches.
The Great British Spring Clean is to take place between 28th May and 13th June and another litter-pick is on the cards for Saturday, 5th June. Button Street and the Darent Valley riverside walk have been targeted in past seasons.
The dates for our meetings are as follows, all 10am at the Village Hall. Hi-Vis jackets will be provided but strong shoes and gloves are necessary, as well as any of your own personal garden tools. Brooms are also useful, particularly when it comes to clearing up the leaves.
Saturday, 1st May; Wednesday 19th May; Sat 5th June; Wed 16th June; Sat 3rd July; Wed 21st July; Sat 7th August; Wed 18th August; Sat 4th September; Wed 15th September; Sat 2nd October.
